| Ardath
cigarette cards, 1930s |
A
selection of cards given away with English cigarettes, Ardath, from
a set of 50 depicting the latest in transportation at the time,
entitled 'Speed - Land, Sea and Air'. A little booklet in which
to paste the cards cost one penny.
At the time the cigarettes were sold for a mere 10 for 6d, 20 for
1/- (5p or about 10c today) and 50 for 2/6d (12.5p or about 25c
today). It was much cheaper to kill yourself smoking in those days!
Each card measured 67 mm x 36 mm. |
