Colac Camera Club

The Colac Camera Club was established in 1955 by a group of enthusiastic photographers wishing to expand and share their love of photography. The club today consists of a small group of friendly people who have the same photographic goal - sharing their passion for all things photographic.

We welcome visitors and members of all age groups and skill levels from beginner to experienced to join our club meetings and outings. We meet at Skills Connection, 96 Pound Rd, Colac on the Second Monday of each month (except December and January) starting at 8pm.

Colac and District Historical Society

The Society is located in the History Centre at COPACC in Gellibrand Street, Colac and opens from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, when a volunteer member will be available to help people.
The society offers research material including publications, photographs, maps, a manuscript collection with records of institutions and businesses, local papers and rate books of the Shire of Colac on microfilm.

The society has a large collection of items relating to Colac’s past, displayed in regularly changed exhibitions. A gold coin is charged for entry to these. A range of local publications are available for sale, including those researched and published by the society.

Meetings held monthly, new members and visitors welcome. Membership per year: Single $15. Double $25.

Colac & District Family History Group

Our group is very active and our current project is to research and record the pre 1900 burials in the Colac Cemetery as many of them were lost in a fire. The contact information for our group can be found on our website.

A long standing amateur theatre company, The Colac Players produce a minimum of two high quality major productions each year, hosts regular play readings and welcomes involvement from people of all ages.


Colac Rifle Club

The Colac Rifle Club was established in 1878 for local shooters, farmers and hunters to develop shooting skills. The Club saw members fight for Country in both world wars and has in recent times had members compete in Regional and State championships.
The Club welcomes new members of all competency levels and is dedicated to growing the sport and serving the local community.

OCR FM

OCR FM is Colac and District's local community radio station, run entirely by volunteers. The station broadcasts 24/7 with a mix of music and local information.

Originally established in 1991 as Colac Public Radio, the radio licence has expanded to include right across the Otways and along the Coast. There are currently two stations that contribute to the live programming: one in Colac at Shop 6 in the Tenpin Bowling Arcade and one in Apollo Bay at the Youth Club.

YRIPP

Youth Referral and Independent Person Program
In the absence of a parent or guardian, would you like to support young people when they are being interviewed by police?

 
YRIPP Logo

An Independent Person (IP) is a volunteer who is independent of the Criminal Justice System and supports young people during interviews with Police when a parent or guardian is unavailable. After the interview, the Independent Person can link young people to support services to reduce their chances of future offending.
YRIPP is a program funded by the State Government and is available to young people interviewed in police stations across Victoria.
