YRIPP Logo

An Independent Person (IP) is a volunteer who is independent of the Criminal Justice System and supports young people during interviews with Police when a parent or guardian is unavailable. After the interview, the Independent Person can link young people to support services to reduce their chances of future offending.
YRIPP is a program funded by the State Government and is available to young people interviewed in police stations across Victoria.
